Grace Pengelly takes newly-created role as assistant commissioning editor at William Collins

She joined HarperCollins last October as part of the graduate trainee programme, having previously worked in political advocacy as a member of the Joint Public Issues Team, an ecumenical consortium of faith groups in the UK.

'Her brief will complement and expand the imprint’s religious offering, as well as delving further into philosophy, politics, mindfulness, spirituality and the big ideas of our time,' said the publisher in a statement.

David Roth-Ey, executive publisher for William Collins and 4th Estate, said: "I’m delighted to welcome another of our talented HarperCollins graduate trainees to the commissioning team at William Collins. Grace brings great intellectual acuity and relevant experience to the role, and I’m excited to see her list develop."

Pengelly said: "After working widely across HarperCollins as a graduate I am delighted to be turning my attention to commissioning non-fiction that encourages deep thinking about our internal questions and external realities. William Collins has an unrivalled reputation and I am thrilled to be joining the team in their pursuit of writing that can help orientate us during uncertain times."
