CBI treble for Kelly McCaughrain

Awards including Book of the Year for Walker debut author


The CBI (Children's Books Ireland) Book of the Year award has gone to Kelly McCaughrain for Flying Tips for Flightless Birds (Walker). McCaughrain also won the Eilís Dillon Award for a first children's book and the Children's Choice award.

The Honour Award for Fiction went to Brian Conaghan for The Weight of a Thousand Feathers (Bloomsbury). The Honour Award for Illustration went to Aga Grandowicz for Dr Hibernica Finch's Compelling Compendium of Irish Animals (Little Island), and the Judges' Special Award went to Joanna Donnelly and Fuchsia MacAree for The Great Irish Weather Book (Gill).
