Author of gypsy descent to release first novel in August 2019

Hannah Black at Coronet has bought Kit Fielding's debut novel, Thursday Nights at the Bluebell Inn, from Peter Buckman at the Ampersand Agency, to publish in August 2019. The book follows the stories of six women who come together each week to form a darts team before going home to their separate lives.

Black said: "Compassionate, dark and funny, this is a wonderful debut from a singular author. Kit Fielding is masterly in the distilling of emotions, and in showing the ways lives can come undone. Bringing his own heritage to bear, the voices of these women sing from the page with power and poignancy."

Fielding said: "From moving around so much in my childhood, and encountering so many people from all walks of life, I've always loved telling people's stories, and more than that, I've loved hearing the stories that they are prepared to share with those around them - particularly in communal spaces and close communities. It's been fascinating to imagine the lives of my characters, sitting in their pub, sharing a drink and their stories."

Fielding comes from a traveller background and left school early to support his family. He is now happily married and lives in a caravan, usually close to the sea.
