Do Something: Activism for Everyone by Kajal Odedra is 'a clear guide to campaigning that anyone can pick up'

Hodder & Stoughton has bought Do Something: Activism for Everyone by UK director of Change.org, Kajal Odedra. Briony Gowlett, publisher, signed world English rights through Jane Graham Maw at Graham Maw Christie Agency. Hodder will publish in hardback on 8 August.

Odedra has worked as a campaigner for the last 12 years. Most recently, she has helped plan movements such as the petition to end tampon tax and the New Era Housing campaign. Do Something is "a clear guide to campaigning that anyone can pick up and find out how to channel their voice in a powerful, effective way".

Odedra said: "We're living in fraught times, overwhelmed with news every day that makes us feel more and more defeated; this book is an antidote to that, about how powerful each and every one of us really are. It's everything I've learned about winning campaigns; the secrets that the people in power don't want you to know because the status quo works in their favour. I can't wait for every teenager, student, mum, dad, gran to read it and realise they can do something!"

Gowlett said: "It is impossible to spend time with Kajal and not come away feeling as though you can change the world. But what is most special and encouraging is her wealth of knowledge from having been the driving force behind so many successful campaigns. Do Something will be required reading for anyone who has ever stared hopelessly at a news feed or asked themselves, 'Why hasn't someone done something about that?'"
