Irenosen Okojie, Joe Haddow, Chris Power, Viv Groskop, Julie Wassmer, John McGhie and Katherine May take part in IBW Live Podcast Tour
Independent Bookshop Week (IBW) has announced it will host its first Live Podcast Tour, as part of IBW’s programme of events during the week of 15 – 22 June.
The line-up includes Book Off!, the literary podcast hosted by Joe Haddow, which will ask authors Viv Groskop (author of How to Own the Room) and Chris Power (author of Mothers) to go head to head in a war of the words at Stoke Newington Bookshop as they both pitch a book they love and think everyone should read.
Nigerian-British writer Irenosen Okojie and the co-hosts of Not Another Book Podcast will be at Housmans Bookshop (London) to hear Okojie's experiences as a novelist and short story writer, the joys of storytelling, surreal tales, disrupting narratives and her forthcoming short story collection Nudibranch and novel Curandera. (16 June 4.00pm)
The Bestseller Experiment will take part in a discussion at Harbour Books (Whitstable) with Whitstable authors Julie Wassmer (author of The Whitstable Pearl Mystery), John McGhie (author of White Highlands) and Katherine May (author of The Electricity of Every Living Thing) about the importance of independent bookshops, in an increasingly digital age, and how they continue to influence their lives and careers. (20 June)
Each live podcast event will be recorded and released as an episode at a later date.
Celebrating independent bookshops, and their importance to communities across the country, Independent Bookshop Week events will be running at bookshops across the UK and Ireland, with 442 bookshops taking part.
