Imprint launches with cookbook containing 70 recipes from around the world to celebrate the festival of Eid
Edited by food writer and stylist Emma Marsden, formerly cookery editor of Good Housekeeping and alumnus of Leith’s School of Food and Wine, the book contains family favourite recipes traditionally enjoyed at Eid, a festival celebrated each year by more than 1.8 billion people worldwide. Recipes come from many countries, with interesting stories as to why they’re cooked time and time again.
As well as over 70 delicious recipes, the book provides an insight into how and why the feasts of Eid al-Fitr (Little Eid) and Eid al-Adha (Big Eid) are celebrated in the UK and UAE, as well as the wider Arab world, and encourages everyone, whatever their religious beliefs, to celebrate these festivals through the international medium of good food.
Illustrated throughout in full colour, A Taste of Eid brings together recipes for showstopping breakfast dishes to kick off the Eid celebrations, feasting food for a midday gathering, wholesome favourites for an evening with family and friends, delightful bite-sized treats and drinks and a selection of crowd-pleasing puddings and individual pastries to finish.
BookBrunch md Jo Henry said: "We’re really delighted to be publishing this fabulous cookbook and joining in the Eid celebrations around the world on 23 May. The recipes are easy to do and truly delicious and we hope many of you will have the chance to enjoy them too. And we’re looking forward to publishing more great books under the BrunchBooks imprint." BrunchBooks will be looking for partners to work with on future books, as well as developing its own list of publications.
Originally due to be launched during the London Book Fair, A Taste of Eid is produced in collaboration with the Sharjah Book Authority to mark this year’s LBF market focus country, Sharjah.
To celebrate Eid on 23 May, BookBrunch Extra will be holding a special event: more details to follow so please watch this space!
