Marlborough Litfest 2021 will be hybrid

Elif Shafak to be Golding speaker

The 2021 Marlborough Litfest, taking place from 30 September to 3 October, will be a hybrid festival, with events taking place live and online. Video creative agency StreamWorks will deliver the online events, while live events "will comply with current Covid-19 guidelines", the organisers said.

Elif Shafak (right) will be the 2021 Golding speaker, starring at an online event on 1 October. Viking publishes Shafak's new novel, The Island of Missing Trees, on 5 August. The event commemorates William Golding's long association with the town, with past speakers including Ben Okri, Rose Tremain, Will Self, Lionel Shriver, Louis de Bernieres, Fay Weldon and Howard Jacobson. 

Brewin Dolphin is the lead sponsor of the festival, which also has support from Hiscox Insurance, William Golding Limited, Marlborough College, St Francis School,, Hamilton Trust, Katharine House Gallery, the Arts Society Kennet & Swindon, Haine & Smith, the White Horse Bookshop, and Wiltshire Life.
