'Significant deal' for Hit Refresh

Joseph Zigmond at William Collins has signed a "significant deal" for Hit Refresh by Microsoft ceo Satya Nadella. The book is billed as a story of corporate change and reinvention as well as of Nadella's journey from childhood in India to a position at the top of the giant technology company.

Zigmond said: "Hit Refresh will be a fascinating roadmap for how companies, industries or communities can be rerouted. Microsoft has a storied past, and with Satya Nadella's guidance it has regained its imagination, competitiveness and reputation as force for innovation. Not only about how Microsoft's culture has transformed in recent years, this book will also tell the story of Nadella's journey from Hyderabad to Washington, his experiences, influences and his vision for the future. How we build technology that integrates empathy in everything it achieves, and how we democratise opportunity in the era to come will be key insights from this inspiring industry shaper."

William Collins has UK Commonwealth and non-exclusive European rights, and will publish this autumn. HarperCollins will publish simultaneously in the US. Nadella's agent is James Levine of Levine Greenberg Rostan Literary Agency.
