Moth Poetry Prize 2020 opens for entries

€6,000 first prize; Nick Laird to judge


The Moth Poetry Prize 2020, run by Irish literary journal the Moth, will this year carry a first prize of €6,000, with three runners-up receiving €1,000 each. Eight commended poets will receive €250 each. The judge is Nick Laird.

The prize is for an unpublished poem, and is open to poets from anywhere in the world. The Moth will publish the four shortlisted poems in its spring 2021 issue. The winner will be announced at a ceremony at Poetry Ireland in the spring.

The closing date for entries is 31 December.
