Oscar's Book Prize 2021 opens for entries

£5,000 for book for under-5s


The £5,000 Oscar's Book Prize, for a book for children up to the age of 5, has opened for entries. The deadline is 5pm on Monday 25 January. 

The prize is in memory of Oscar Ashton, who died aged three and a half in 2012 of an undiagnosed heart condition. It was founded by his parents, and is supported by  Amazon, the Evening Standard and the National Literacy Trust. Lorraine Kelly and Axel Scheffler will be among the 2021 judges.

The shortlist for the prize will be announced on 12 April, and the winner will be announced on 12 May. 

The 2020 winner was Benji Davies, receiving the prize for the second time, for Tad (HarperCollins).
