'Prix Goncourt of the Arab World’ recognizes the work of writers, translators and publishers in advancing Arab literature: main prizes worth £160,000 - £196,000
Submissions are currently open for the 16th edition of the Sheikh Zayed Book Award, one of the Arab world’s most prestigious and lucrative literary prizes. The Award, which Le Monde has called the ‘Prix Goncourt of the Arab World’, recognizes the work of writers, translators, researchers, academics and publishers in advancing Arab literature and culture across nine categories. The main prize winners receive 750,000 UAE Dirhams (£160,000 / $200,000), with the Cultural Personality of the Year receiving 1,000,000 UAE Dirhams (£196,000 / $272,000).

Authors, publishers, and translators of any nationality can make submissions, which are welcomed from all countries in Arabic and other languages. Works must be written in Arabic, except for works nominated for the Translation category (translated either to or from Arabic) and works nominated for the category Arabic Culture in Other Languages, which accepts works in English, German, French, Italian, Russian and Spanish.
